Power of humidity

Power of humidity

One of the least known facts about orchids is that they really need lots of humidity in order to thrive.
For detailed text look here....

Save for a few cold-loving specimens that originally hail from places like the Arctic Circle or the Andes mountain range, the majority of the orchids that you will see being sold by local suppliers will require lots of humidity.

Humidity is important because it provides an instant source of moisture to the orchids. In addition to being an easy
supply of moisture, humidity also plays a crucial role in the thermal regulation of the plants.

When the temperature of the immediate environment of the
orchid rises, the humidity or air moisture content should
also follow suit.

Otherwise, you will run the risk of having a parched and nearly-dying orchid in a few weeks.

This principle applies especially to sun-loving specimens.Sun-loving specimens love dappled light, but they also need lots of humidity to survive. Here are some strategies to
improve the humidity of your orchids' environment:

1.If you have several orchids in your garden, you can
cluster them together to increase the humidity level around
the plants.

Clustering the plants will create a mini-climate around the
orchids.

2.Invest in equipment like foggers or humidifiers.

These machines are great for larger structures like greenhouses, where both aerial plants and terrestrial plants will benefit greatly from higher humidity.

3.Avoid placing your indoor orchids in places like the
living room or bathroom - because these places have low humidity levels, generally.
